Singing in Germany again felt a bit like going back to 20 years ago. I was at the beginning of my career, and I used to venture on long tours in this wonderful land, the homeland to many of my favourite composers and writers; we had one concert every 24 hours, travelling by car from one city to another, often by night. It was exhausting, but also very exciting. My enthusiasm was fuelled by the love I received from the audience at each concert.
With the same enthusiasm, and through my singing, I am now embracing this great Country again, a place where I have many friends and fond memories... I love and I am sincerely grateful to the German people, who were the first to recognise and appreciate my talent, offering me a crucial springboard for my international career. .
Tornare a cantare in Germania è un po’ come, improvvisamente, ringiovanire di oltre vent’anni: quando, al principio della carriera, proprio in questa terra meravigliosa, patria di molti fra i compositori e scrittori da me preferiti, mi arrischiavo in lunghe tournée al ritmo di un concerto ogni ventiquattr’ore, con le distanze da una città all’altra percorse in macchina, spesso di notte, con grande fatica ma grande entusiasmo. Entusiasmo incrementato ad ogni tappa dall’affetto che puntualmente ricevevo dal pubblico.
Con lo stessa euforia, mi accingo nuovamente ad abbracciare, attraverso il mio canto, questo grande Paese, terra dove ho tanti amici e che associo a tanti bei ricordi... Sono affezionato e sinceramente grato ad un popolo che ha saputo riconoscere ed apprezzare per primo il mio talento, offrendomi di fatto un trampolino fondamentale per la carriera internazionale.
