This impressively large English-style #meatpie — with a marrow bone roasted right into it — is not easy to make. Consider it a weekend challenge. The #NYTCooking recipe for venison and trotter pie belongs to @angiekmar of the @Beatrice_Inn. It takes hours to layer the flavors and textures of many different meats and seal it all in a buttery homemade dough. This family-style version serves several people, but a single bone works beautifully: As the pie bakes in the oven, most of the marrow melts out, bubbling into the sauce, making it even richer. @meredithheuerphotog took this photo while on assignment for @nytfood.
