Truku Prema Wangyal was recognized to be a reincarnated Buddhist Lamain the village of Ura in northeastern Bhutan when he was just 4 years old.  He was said to be like no other child his age and exuded an incredible, quiet aura of wisdom.
The Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, landlocked between India and China, sat in isolation for thousands of years. They had no paved roads until the 1960s, kept the kingdom off-limits to foreigners until 1974, and launched television only in 1999. Bhutanese do not rely on Gross Domestic Product as the best indicator of their progress. Instead they measure success by “Gross National Happiness.” This index measures people's quality of life and Bhutan has been continually ranked as the happiest country in the world.
