Every year, tribes from all around Ladakh gather at Leh, the summer capital, to celebrate the most vibrant festival in the region – the Ladakh Festival 2017.
Sambodo MSR, @sambodo.foto on Instagram, captures this rich culture in his photo series, as the villagers showcased their unique styles with performances and sporting activities like archery and polo. Men traditionally wear “Gonchas” and women wear “Tsulmas” with multiple ornaments, headwear and jewellery for beautification. Similar to the Tibetan or Mongolians, each variation in the traditional costumes carries the community’s identity and culture.
