The first New Yorker Greta Gerwig ever met was her mother, Chris Gerwig. Chris lived in Brooklyn briefly as a child, but that wasn’t what made her a New Yorker. “She had and has the spirit of a quintessential New York City gal,” #GretaGerwig writes in @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “She’s brash and smart and tough and funny, and was always the mother my school dreaded a call from because she would push and push and push until she got what she wanted.” Greta, the writer and director of @ladybirdmovie, first visited New York when she was 2. Not surprisingly, she doesn't remember the trip. But she does remember her view of NYC as a 5-year-old. “It felt a universe away from the kids-on-bikes town that was Sacramento,” she writes. “It seemed impossible that it was the same country. And yet somehow, it also felt like home.” @kathylo15 took this photo of Greta and Chris Gerwig in #WashingtonSquarePark. Visit the link in our profile to read more.
