Celebrations take many forms. For the new year, @taylorfreesolo and I wanted to celebrate our most loved place on earth - #bearsearsnationalmonument - by climbing a desert tower and doing art on top. I sketched a drawing of the landscape, a practice which brings me into a deeper appreciation of place, and Taylor danced. She danced in black to express some sadness for the largest reduction of a National Monument in history, the recent shrinking of Bears Ears National Monument.
