We just cleaned our car today and I remembered this quote and the one about 50 half-full water bottles. So many stale french fries and water bottles.
But I especially love this one because it’s the essence of why I started #kidsaretheworst in the first place. There are a lot of different and right ways to parent. And there are a lot of us out there wondering if we are doing enough.
I wanted to create a space that made all parents laugh a little about this most extremely difficult gig we all get to experience. And to realize that we are more alike than different.
If you are doubting yourself today, listen to me (read me?): you are doing enough. You are a good parent. Even if you lost your cool today. Or just one minute ago. I always tell my kids, “if I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t care what you did.” You’re a good parent. Your kids are good kids. Go tell them that. And then lock them out of the bathroom while you eat chocolate.
