In Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park, a group called “The Strangers” gathers on Sundays to celebrate their devotion to rock ’n’ roll. “I think we are doing this to de-stress, not to show off our skills,” said Isamu Yamanaka, or Jess, who founded the group. “It’s just fun.” They dance to foreign music from the ‘50s and ‘60s, as well as Japanese #rocknroll. The wear jeans, black T-shirts, red bandanas — and, of course, denim or leather jackets. And they dance: the twist, air guitar, the splits are among their moves. | It’s time to say goodbye to 2017. Let’s dance it off! Today, we’re sharing clips from our #DanceInTheRealWorld series, which celebrates dancing around the globe, from the asphalt streets of Tokyo to a strobe-lit basement in New York City. Visit the link in our profile to watch this full video — by Alexanda Eaton, Hisako Ueno and @anothereugeneyi — and to see more from the series. #HappyNewYear
