Myanmar says the story of these people is "fake news." The military says they burned down their own villages, faked massacres, left their own children for dead. But roughly 2 out of every 3 Rohingya Muslims in #Myanmar fled this year as soldiers shot them, raped them and torched their homes. At least 354 villages were burned, and thousands killed. For those who escaped, the ordeal was just beginning. Miles of monsoon-flooded land and mud-slicked hills lay ahead. Each village held the prospect of more soldiers. Hundreds died when crossing to Bangladesh, their overloaded rafts jolted by flood-swollen rapids, their bodies washed up on the sodden banks. And for those who survived the crossing, the suffering didn’t end. Now, hundreds of thousands of Rohingya wait in camps, Each of them has a wrenching story.
