Last month I started a respectful campaign to try to inspire Texas Coalition for Animal Protection @tcapspayneuter to stop declawing cats and kittens. Thanks to all of you who signed the petition and respectfully spoke up about this issue. Our campaign worked and TCAP operators and people who work at the front desks at their clinics say that they no longer offer declaw procedures! ?❤️
I had my mom call the pr/media people at TCAP to get an official comment about them not offering declaws and to ask them why they stopped. A nice woman called my mom back from TCAP in the media dept and said, "We aren't interested in commenting right now." So my mom asked them if they would comment in a couple weeks and the person repeated the same comment.
Why won't these organizations and vets speak up and just simply announce that they stopped declawing and why, so that they can inspire others to not declaw and to help our cause? Are they ashamed that they even did this inhumane and harmful procedure in the first place?
Cornell small animal hospital stopped declawing but they won't announce it. Dr Elsey recently stopped offering declawing at his Cat Friendly practice and one of his employees said that the recent American Association of Feline Practitioners strong stance against declawing inspired him to stop. (He is retired) His people told me that he's proud of that decision but wants to steer clear of any announcement about his decision. Maybe you can inspire him to just do a simple statement as to why he had his AAFP Cat Friendly practice stop declawing by respectfully asking him on his fb page.
Why? If they are all doing the right thing and truly care about the welfare of cats, then why the silence? It is a fact that if @cornellvet , @drelseys and @texasspayneuter announced that they stopped declawing, then thousands of cats and kittens could be saved from going through this cruelty and harm. #BeTheDifference #SpeakUp #voiceforthevoiceless #takeTheHighRoad #pawsneedclaws #stopdeclawing
