Between the @therockettes and the @rockcenternyc tree, the holidays in NYC are nothing if not flashy. Among the sparkly holiday traditions: The window displays of Fifth Avenue. Though they emerge for only a few months every year, the artists behind them the windows on them year-round. @ニューヨーク・タイムズ spoke to @mark_gagnon, who created this year’s @Bergdorf Goodman windows. The store’s theme this year: “To New York With Love.” Mark, who began collecting ideas in March, designed the window paying tribute to @nyhistory. When he saw an item that caught his eye — like an old parking meter — he set to work in his apartment, reproducing each item with papier-mâché, Bubble Wrap and masking tape. For the Ohio-born artist, who’s lived in New York for almost 30 years, the window is a love letter to the city. “I wanted to celebrate all different kinds of walks of life in New York,” he said, “because that’s really what New York is to me.” @karstenmoran took this photo of a holiday window at #Bergdorfs. #??❄️?
