Meerkat. These very cute, very social critters live in Southern Africa in groups of up to 50 individuals. Note the dark patches around their eyes – that helps reduce glare from the sun. While most of the mob is out foraging for food, one or more meerkats will stand at attention, looking out for predators. They’ll communicate with a bark if danger is spotted and the clan will fall back into their burrows.
