Koala. A baby koala is called a joey, just like a baby kangaroo and other marsupials! When a little joey koala is born, it makes its way into its mother’s pouch all by itself. Kind of remarkable considering it’s the size of a jellybean and blind… But it uses its sense of touch and smell to find its way in. The joey will stay in its mother’s pouch for six months as it continues to develop before coming out. Then it’s another 6 months hanging on and around mom before being fully independent. .
