I live for my students taking whatever i throw at them. Hell, i don’t even know what I’m doing until it comes out. I’ve frighten myself several times but, that’s the fun part.. There’s nothing fun about knowing what’s coming all the time. That predictive shit might be cute to some people but it’s not conducive to their learning ability. Taking actual risks is the key to breaking those barriers. Why do you think everyone lives for my kids who really train under me? They’re learning things other teachers wouldn’t dare to do. You can’t be embarrassed for what you don’t know, all you can do is learn what you can while you can.
I hear a lot of adults complaining about what their parents didn’t let them do when they were kids. What I say to that is, “what about now tho? Get your ass in that Salsa, African, ballet, graham class and get that technique up sis.” I don’t want to hear anything. Also, when you take these things know your levels. Any beginner who’s never taken class before should never start with me. First know your right from your left, know your isolations, learn how to take direction, then come to me. You don’t want to let the fear stop you but you can’t be in denial either.
