My Grandparents sharing a newspaper at the White House, they sat on that bench daily. That is where they met & worked together & fell in love. She was as working for the Canadian Government & He was already in the military. The 2nd photo says it all. Like many couples before the war, they had a small ceremony with family so they could be married before they were separated by the war for 6 years & 1 day. That may not have been the wedding of their dreams, but there love was greater than any of us can barely imagine in the world we live today. #salutetoservice as I know my world would not exists had both of my grandparents not been involved in standing up for their countries. It’s powerful, beautiful & today a day of pride for all of us who were gifted its stories, photos & history. #vetransday
