In the 1940s, I used to live about one block away from my school, Garfield High, & there was this place in our attic that us kids used to call “the dream window.” We would look out amongst the blackberry bushes & garbage & imagine what life would be like beyond the block. We had to let our imaginations run wild because without it, we’d probably go insane thinking about how limited we truly were... I used to dream of a better life for myself but also about how I hoped to shape the world in some way...Reading this poem that I jotted down back in high school is such a beautiful reminder that you can achieve your dreams if you keep on keepin’ on & WORK HARD!! ?? You’ve gotta believe it to achieve it.
