Charlie the Amur leopard was born on May 27th and came to us on a Species Survival Plan recommendation. He was rejected by his mother and hand reared, and is now being introduced to Mystique so he can learn how to be a cat. The #AmurLeopard exists on the cusp of extinction. We’re working with other zoos to develop a sustainable and genetically diverse population of Amur leopards that can contribute to new scientific knowledge and to the survival of the species in restored and protected native habitat. #LeopardLessons #LeopardsOfInstagram #SanDiegoZoo #EndExtinction
