Exciting news from #AssateagueIsland National Seashore. ?? In September an entire loggerhead sea #turtle nest successfully hatched on the #Maryland end of the island with approximately 100 hatchlings making their way out into the ocean. In the Atlantic Ocean, loggerhead sea turtles typically nest on sandy beaches from North Carolina to Florida; it is rare for loggerheads to have successful nests north of Virginia. Although multiple #seaturtle nesting attempts have been documented within the National Seashore in past years, this is the first confirmed hatch and the largest number of hatchlings ever recorded.
