From screaming at strangers to stay away while walking on the streets, to trying to dodge powerful predators within the entertainment industry while at work and doing my best to make a living at what I love. I stopped "networking" after a series of incidents made me feel unsafe.
I remember that the last straw was being told by a powerful older man that if I didn't redo a love scene and make it objectifying that he would slander my name around town. Which he did. I remember praying for strength while in my trailer, in Eastern Europe, while he tried to bully and manipulate me. I stood tall, I never caved to get work, I never lead anyone on even after being told by my team at the time to make them think I would "f*ck them" to get the part...I got work based on my talent.
I used all those negative incidents to fuel me to create The New Hollywood and be surrounded by likeminded folks in the industry to help change the trajectory one ripple at a time.
May we all do better, have more compassionate and empathy for one another and hold sexual predators accountable for their abuse of power.
