Leopards are such secretive creatures that estimates of the size of leopard populations can vary wildly, with scientific data about South Africa varying from 2,390 to 23,472.
The Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. It covers an area of 19,485 square kilometers (7,523 sq miles) in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga in northeastern South Africa.
