At first glance, this bird might look injured, but rest assured it is perfectly healthy. Luzon bleeding heart doves like this one photographed at the @colombuszoo are emblazoned with a bright red patch of feathers on the center of their chests with pink ones all around it, making their ‘wound’ look even more realistic. These shy birds can be found feeding on seeds and fruits on the forest floors of the island of Luzon in the Philippines.
