The last few days have been unbearably heavy. Yesterday Ian and I both looked at each other and said we needed to acknowledge out loud that we were both too sad to speak about what happened Sunday night in Las Vegas. This is devastating for everyone, but having a newborn only makes it harder to recover from what we all woke up to Monday morning. We would read to ourselves as the news stories kept updating on our phones, occasionally bringing up "the latest" and then retreating back to our metaphorical rooms. Guys, enough is enough. What argument is there to be had when people are losing their lives? The will it/wont it debate on whether or not gun control will make a difference is an irresponsible use of our time and energy at this point. No matter who you are and what you believe, doesn't it make sense to at least try? This isn't about the second amendment, this isn't about politics, this is about human beings murdering each other while we sit back and once again use divisive language to win an argument we shouldn't be having in the first place. Clearly, what were doing now ISN'T working so doesn't it make sense to try a different approach? This is about keeping guns out of the hands of crazy people, and I cannot imagine there is a single sane person in this country right now that wouldn't agree with that...right?
