The first thing to say about La Morada, a little Oaxacan restaurant in the South Bronx, is that the food is excellent. Natalia Mendez has been serving delicious examples of her native state’s cuisine in this heliotrope-painted room for almost a decade. A rainbow of moles—red, green, black, even white, delicately spiced with chiles and chocolate and cinnamon and pine nuts—are served over tender dark chicken meat, and have gained a legion of fans.
