Thank you all for your love, support and understanding as always. Today the UK press are writing about me turning my labia into crystal jewellery which I know may seem shocking at first glance but there is a deeper more meaningful reason behind it. I lived in pain for almost 30yrs because I didn't know female circumcision existed, I thought it was only for men which is widely acceptable yet a taboo for females to discuss. Because I didn't know there was anything wrong with me I simply avoided the things that hurt me, from riding bicycles to wearing jeans, I just presumed every woman felt the same level of discomfort but they don't, I suffered in silence. Having my private (the NHS couldn't help me) labiaplasty surgery 9months ago was life changing and I am finally free from pain which I view as something to celebrate and raise awareness for - nobody deserves to live in pain regardless of age, race, gender or lifestyle choices. I find my labia necklace empowering, a trophy it survival and symbol of freedom that more women need to be aware of.
