I've been getting a lot of messages asking me why I disappeared from social media in the past week. I'ts a little difficult to explain how I feel since the earthquake in México a week ago. I found out in the middle of a photoshoot for a project I have been working on for over a year and I found myself feeling fearful and terrified for my family and friends living in the city. I had feelings of impotence, for not being able to be there to help and for not being able to cancel work and take the first flight home. I disappeared from social media first and foremost out of respect. Respect for my country, the victims and the grief I share with all my countrymen and women. Nothing has felt relevant as much as trying to raise awareness and help in every bit I can. I feel frustration for not being able to join my cousins and fellow Mexicans, who have fearlessly been volunteering every day, lending a hand to the rescuers and collecting goods for the victims. The only thing I could really do was try to spread the word, try to create international awareness using the tools I have and donate remotely. It’s been a week since the earthquake and I feel very emotional and incredibly proud to see images of how Mexican people have come together to help each other. Rebuilding what was torn apart will take more than just a week of spreading the word in hopes for help. It will take months and I hope aid will still flow through, that the same feelings of solidarity will remain to help México stand on its feet again. Its very conflicting for me to get back to "business as usual" on my social media, but I need to move forward, the same way I know my country will. I hope you understand and thank you so much to everyone that has been helping and donating!!! Please find the link in my bio if you want to help. ¡¡¡FUERZA MEXICO!!! ♥️??♥️ #fuerzamexico
