#MovementMondays #hispanicheritagemonth Amaury Nolasco is an actor born in Puerto Rico to Dominican parents. He studied biology at University of Puerto Rico and intended on going to medical school. While in school, Nolasco was approached by a director in Puerto Rico and was immediately cast in a commercial. This lead to more commercials, TV shows, and a rising interest in acting. After graduating, Nolasco moved to New York to become a full time actor despite being told that his Spanish accent was something he had to overcome. In an interview with LatinTRENDS Nolasco said, “For many years they told me, ‘You have to work on your accent, blah, blah, blah.’ Just because I have an accent, does that mean that I can’t speak?” But now, Nolasco says the acceptance of Latinos on television, and the growing recognition of their buying power as the country’s largest minority, is becoming so much greater that now he’s hearing, “We need a thicker accent. And we’re not only playing the murderers anymore. We’re not only playing the characters who get killed off after the first couple of scenes. We’re also playing the good guys.” His first role in a feature film was Takeshi Kitano’s Brother. Amaury has guest starred in many shows but is best known for his roles in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Transformers, and Fox’s hit show Prison Break. Along with reprising his role as Fernando Sucre in the Prison Break event series this past May, Nolasco will also star in ABC’s pilot Deception premiering in 2018. @amaurynolasco
