It was in Mexico that Henri Cartier-Bresson first began to reconcile his fine-art schooling with an impulsive and intuitive eye for roaming street photography. Here was the gestation of Cartier-Bresson’s most influential idea: “Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera,” he famously later wrote.
