'The Blue Pools are somewhat of a hidden gem I’ve found on New Zealand’s South Island. You can access the lake via a 30 minute hike off the main highway near Makarora. I'd been through this location many times wanting to get images of people swimming and jumping in. Unfortunately, the pools' looks are deceiving, as the waters are icy cold – not easy to talk people into swimming! A few bold individuals were up to the challenge though, and jumped in. Most people don't stay here long due to the fact that this area is infested with sand-flies.
