“This Is Just to Say… / You Should Visit Paterson, NJ / Really.” Paterson, once famous for industry, was the subject of an epic poem by William Carlos Williams, the pediatrician-poet who lived a short drive away and made house calls there. Today, Paterson is still a place of poets — like the rapper @fettywap1738, who was born there. The director Jim Jarmusch wrote an indie-film love poem to the city and to poetry itself, released earlier this year. The film was also an ode to the waterfall at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park. (@bryananselm took this photo below the waterfall.) Today, Paterson is famous for its falls— but there are a number of spots that deserve some time in the spotlight, Helene Stapinski writes in @nytimestravel. There’s a museum tracing the city’s industrial history. There’s Libby’s Lunch, a Texas-wiener-style hot dog shack near the falls. And Paterson has some of the best restaurants in the state, she writes. One of her favorites: Griselda’s, a Peruvian spot in a neighborhood dubbed Little Lima.
