True to their name, fishing cats like this one photographed at @ptdefiancezoo absolutely love being in the water. Their paws are webbed and their tails are short, making swimming a breeze. This aggressive cat preys mostly on fish, as one would imagine, but they’ve also been known to hunt snakes, ducks, birds and sometimes even larger mammals like goats. Fishing cats face a high threat of extinction because out of all the small cat species, this one’s habitat overlaps the least with protected areas. They are currently listed as vulnerable on the #IUCN Redlist.
