The World at Night photography
When the entire sky is filled with the dancing northern lights, it’s difficult to decide where to look! The fisheye lens gets the best view. When aurora is in storm level, the form, speed, and colors of the lights are breath-taking. I photographed this a few years ago in Lapland, northern Sweden. But it was strong enough to be recognized from even central Europe, as a red glow on the northern horizon.
In the next 2-3 nights watch for lights specially if you are in high latitudes. There is a storm predicted for tonight (look early at dark before Moon reaches high). And the strongest solar flare in a decade happened today! The particles from the ejection may reach Earth in a day or two, to possibly cause a massive aurora storm later this week which might become visible from places far from polar areas (in dark skies). The North America and Western Europe is more favorable as they are closer to the north magnetic pole. In southern hemisphere Tasmania and New Zealand are well located, unless you are reading this from Antarctica!
