This weekend, the photographer Philip Montgomery visited Houston and its surrounding areas to document the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. He accompanied Lauren Gundlach and her father to their home on Legend Lane, where the water reached well above Lauren’s waist (though you could see from the brown line on the walls that it had crested a foot higher).
