Saturday, at 9:21 p.m. EDT, three humans landed safely home on Earth after months of living and working on the International Space Station (@国際宇宙ステーション). Record-breaking NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson was returning from a 288 day stay in space, bringing her cumulative time in space to 665 days, maintaining the record for U.S. astronauts. NASA astronaut Jack Fischer (@astro2fish) and Russian cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin were returning from 136 days in space.
The International Space Station is a unique microgravity laboratory where important research is conducted that not will not only help us travel deeper into the solar system, but also benefits life here on Earth.
