So this was amazing to FINALLY see #BlackIsBeautiful finally come to light in a convincing believable entertaining way) but for MJ this was a 2bird/1stone coup: 1) he made evolving look easy (it wasn't) #Motown fudging his age by 2 years when #IWantYouBack came out in 69 was no accident. @TheJacksons were the beneficiaries of the Civil Rights Dream. It's kinda hard resisting change when a cute 9 year old is pulling at your heartstrings (he was 11, but "show business")--this is key to remember, because it wasn't like he was alone: the Burke Family from Chicago were just as talented (#TheFiveStairsteps) & #TheSylvers from from Watts had KILLER harmony game (sidenote, Edmond their lead was the voice of Marlon on the J5 cartoon)---but in the business of selling the black american dream to "America", neither outfit had a young captivating frontman talented enough to make adults take seriously & age appropriate enough to not be a threat. In '72 at 14 it wasn't "cute" anymore. Now it's "do you invite this man to adorn the walls of your daughter in every city & country across the world? Or nah? Selling J5 as teens heartthrobs would take a lot of work. Enter #DancingMachine a funk bomb w zero sugar & bubblegum. It's THE go to song to turn your party OUT!!! was first stroke of genius and Number 2? this was his afrosolidarity ✊?-@Us Weekly-stars are just like us-move: him mastering the robot made him accessible & a hero for Black America.
