Jackson Pollock was, as Peggy Guggenheim readily acknowledged, the most important artist in her life, and her “most honorable achievement.” Explore Pollock’s work “Alchemy” (1947) through a didactic exhibition in our Sackler Center for Arts Education, on view through September 6. Through video footage and interactive kiosks, you can see three-dimensional imaging, elemental mapping, x-radiography, and non-destructive analytical techniques to identify the painting’s pigments and binders. This exhibition on one of Pollock’s earliest poured paintings draws you into the world of an art conservator, to understand the physical properties of the materials and how Pollock applied them to the canvas. #GuggVisionaries #PeggyGuggenheim
