#waspworkout ??‍♀️ #walking I don't underestimate the power of walking. I think that a lot of people tend to think of walking as being the least of all exercise options. It doesn't get your heart rate going as high, you don't sweat as much, and anybody can do it. But that doesn't mean it's not a highly effective way to stay healthy and fit. . I have an uncle who was over 300 pounds and lost over 100 of them just changing what he ate and walking. For a lot of people, walking can be the best option for exercise. For very large people, running and other high-impact exercise can be very dangerous, if not impossible. For women with large breasts more aerobic activity can be painful and humiliating. For people over a certain age, joint integrity and structural stability can become a concern. . For me, my particular motivation to walk is that I build muscle very easily but I don't want to look bulky. Walking gives me the calorie burning and toning I'm looking for in running, without the muscle building, which, for me, is sometimes more desireable. I've also had a lot of back and muscle injuries in my very active life and, with age, they're catching up to me. Though I LOVE to run, sometimes my body says "no". . But, for me, the benefits of walking go beyond the physical...they're also mental, emotional and spiritual. As a kind of meditative practice, I will turn off my ringer, put on some calming or inspiring music, and then walk for an hour or more. If I'm in the city, I will take in the hustle and bustle of the city-dwellers, the colours and smells, the architecture and lively conversations, the incredible variety of our human tapestry. If I'm in the suburbs I like to look at the homes and yards, to appreciate the peaceful sweetness of family and the "American Dream" of the 50's. If I'm in nature...well, that is my sanctuary. Wherever I am, I let my thoughts drift and float without writing anything down, without calling anyone to talk about those thoughts, without trying to share them with anyone but the eternal. It's incredible what I notice, what I see, what I FEEL when I slow down and be with myself. ?? . #nofilter #natureisbeauty #davidgray ...again. ❤️him
