Posting pics of some of my rescues got me reminiscing so I thought I would share my youngest ever rescue at just a few days old. Had to be bottle fed every few hours just like a newborn human baby and manually stimulated to pee/poop at those feedings. Who could forget Buddy if you've been following since 2014?? We were asked to help a few day old kitten who had been thrown out of a car window. We got him with his eyes closed, burnt paw pads from the hot South Florida pavement, and a little scrawny lacerated tail. Buddy lost his tail as a result but thrived each week and ended up a handsome, strapping 22 lb tall and muscular "bobtail" cat. He's far from obese, just a huge frame and tall. He has a wonderful home now not far from where he was rescued from the street and is all grown up. He lives with 2 little girls who dress him up, tuck him in a baby doll bed, and push him around in a pink stroller. He loves every minute of it even though he's so masculine.
Fostering him & nursing him back to health was a wonderful self rewarding family experience. Cases like this is why we dive in hands on when we can and why we donate to rescue when we can. My own kids even helped hand on and have been since...little rescuers in training!
There are so many animals that need our help so please open your home to foster if you can! Sometimes rescues who are full will take on more if they have foster homes available.
