Yet unlike many of their tribe, hermits don’t defend feeding territories, but rather follow a “trapline”, visiting a sequence of flowers in rotation throughout the forest. Trying to photograph one at a flower like this takes time and focus - the bird may visit just once every hour or two, and then for less than a second. Get distracted at the wrong moment, and you run the risk of missing the visit entirely, guaranteeing another 1-2 hour wait! #hummingbird #asawright #wildbird
