Photo by @tapiro, Winner of the 2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year Contest // Powerful eruption of Colima Volcano in west of Mexico on december 13th, 2015. That night, I was in Comala municipality, the weather was dry and cold; suddendly I saw incandescence above the creater of the volcano, so I started shooting. Seconds later, the powerful volcanic explosion provoked massive friction of ash particles that generated a big lightning of about 600 meters that connected ash and volcano and illuminated most of the dark scene. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life, after the volcanic event, I checked the camera display and thought it was an error, the image was unbelievable. Only after seeing the photograph on my computer I realized that this was the picture o my life.
