I have crossed this place many times and have only seen water here once — in the spring of 2014 when we made the Colorado’s last paddle to the sea. Thanks to a treaty between the US and Mexico agreeing to release of less than 1% of the mighty Colorado River's flow across this parched landscape as part of an experimental restoration. Today, due to over allocation, a growing populace and a changing climate, the Colorado River delta is back to a river of sand.
