Bali’s Monkey Forest Ubud is a serene monkey sanctuary owned and run by the local village where monkeys can roam free without fences to be as mischievous as they want…so visitors are warned to keep their belongings safely locked away to avoid theft.

Our very own Ben Halcomb had been planning this visit for years yet patience was key to capturing this beautiful moment between mother and child. Shot on a #Nikon D4s with the #Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR II, it meant Ben could get close to the action, without being close to the animals themselves.

Sticking clear of more open areas where the sunlight was harsh was key to achieving a softness which adds to the emotion of the image. “Don’t forget - you shouldn't be afraid to move around your subjects as much as possible to get the composition and background you want. Especially when you can’t ask the subject to move for you!”.
