I have this habit of almost missing flights on the end of a trip. It's seems more often than not the best weather is the day I depart. Many all night road trips seem to end with a pack-as-you-drive rush to catch my flight. .

My last trip was thwarted with bad weather all the way until the night before. These rhyolite mountains had been on my list for years to see, so with a few hours of decent weather and clear road conditions we headed out. But if there is one thing you learn in Iceland it's to never trust the weather forecast. We took in this view for 30 minutes before freezing rain set in & the entire area was covered in mist. You couldn't see 10 ft in front of you. As if nothing was even there. I've realized that one of best things about traveling is having something worth coming back for. .
