Mollo is located on the slope of the Mutis mountain-range, the highest peak on Timor island. Geologically, this is an elevated coral that forms a northwest to southeast range of mountains, up to 2,427 meter above sea level. At the top of the mountain is a rural village. Here, Aleta Baun, a local leader, spearheaded a peaceful resistance movement that lasted 3 years to protect this rock from the marble mining industry, which visibly destructed large surface areas already. With her blessing, we traveled here to scout the potential for climbing as an alternative form of economic infrastructure.
This is the first route that we bolted. This area has lots of potential!
