One of my favorite things to do at Bryce Canyon National Park is to stand at one of the rim-top overlooks (Bryce Viewpoint, in this case) at sunrise or sunset with a long telephoto lens and pick out interesting features of the hoodoos to photograph. It's an exercise that could keep me happily occupied for hours on end, as the different shapes, textures, and formations of the hoodoos are infinitely fascinating to me. This sunrise was a particularly beautiful, windy, and frigid one. Bryce is up around 8000 feet in elevation and we were there in late November, which makes for freezing temps. But that doesn't matter...it is an amazing sight no matter when you go.
