hi friends. my apartment in Jamaica Plain was robbed on friday afternoon. tess came home and called me, thinking i'd had stopped by to grab some things as i'm currently moving into a room that someone's almost moved out of. i wasn't there though, and her voice quickly turned to panic as she reached the bedroom, saw both our cats lingering in the open window where the AC had been ripped out. it was absolutely horrifying for her, and when i was able to get down there, the extent of what these robbers went through and tore through was incredible. everything. it's like everything was touched or taken. money, jewelry, all my cameras, valuables.. i know i'm privileged as i don't even really care about the physical stuff at this point (well, i would except that i've had renters insurance which only costs me $6 a month to cover $15k of valuables.) the cats and tess's safety is all i care about. but the lack of feeling safe, and the overwhelming feeling of being extremely violated is the worst. i'm trying to keep my head up but i haven't been sleeping or eating as much as i usually do, i haven't wanted to be online at all, but i have thankfully had a lot of support from friends and family and you all. .

to answer some FAQs: first story apartment, safe neighborhood, never been robbed before. the monetary value of the items will be given back if the insurance claim goes well (eventually?) and the police also took some of my things to fingerprint. the police were okay and comforted tess briefly, but the detective made all these assumptions about the robbers ("oh why even bother taking fingerprints, they are probably heroin addicts too dehydrated to leave any" aka profiling with NO EVIDENCE AT ALL but who's really surprised by that gah.) anywho, that covers the majority that i've been asked but today i'll be on live streaming on younow sometime between 4-5pm EST and feel free to join me there folks. much love and light to you all. #toughdays #robbery #trans #sad #itllbeokay #ornot #hopefully #cool
