Imagine hiking through the rainforest, canoeing across a river, and motorbiking down a dirt path for hours or even days just to access a health clinic. That’s the reality for the 1.2 million people living in remote communities in Liberia. Physician Raj Panjabi knew it did not need to be this way, so he co-founded @lastmilehealth, an organization that trains local community members to be professionalized community health workers. Their work brings life-saving care to the doorsteps of those living in remote communities.

As this year's TED Prize winner, Raj has a bold wish to launch the Community Health Academy, a global platform that will train, empower, and connect community health workers in every corner of the world. Join the movement at CommunityHealthAcademy.org, and watch our Instagram story to learn more.
