In 1890, the American army exterminated the tribe of Big Foot at Wounded Knee. In 1986, Lakota horsemen decided to follow the same tracks as their ancestors and honour what remains the symbol of the Indian genocide. For five years, they confronted the harsh Dakota winter and followed Big Foot’s path. Guy Le Querrec went with them in 1990, on their last journey.
An exhibition of this work in on show at Abbaye Royale de l’Epau in France until November 5.
