Sgt. Iwona Kosmaczewska assisted on May 25, 2017, with the process of placing flags at the headstones of U.S. military personnel who are buried at Arlington National Cemetery, in preparation for Memorial Day. "Flags-In" has become an annual ceremony since the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, the Army's oldest active-duty infantry unit that is traditionally known as "The Old Guard," was designated to be the Army's official ceremonial unit in 1948. "We’re representing the Army and it’s a great honor," said Sgt. Kosmaczewska, a medic from Queens, according to the Defense Department.
