Fosters Family Stories Submission from Rose: Hi, I'm Rose. I am 19 years old, and currently studying at a 4-year college. I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my beautiful mom, who adopted me from China when I was 1 year old. I can mainly relate to Mariana, and Jesus about being adopted. I have always wondered the basic childish things like, where I come from, who my parents are, and if I have any siblings. I have tried to find out more information about myself, but it has always to a dead end sadly. I am still hopeful maybe one day I can find out more information about myself. I love The Fosters. It talks about situations that would most likely never appear on television, such as Mariana's stalker Nick. The show also talks about being LGBTQAP... I personally just came out to my sister and my mother this past October during National Coming Out Day. This personally for me was one of the hardest things I have done. I have had a lot of hard encounters in my life, but accepting that I was Lesbian was the hardest. Growing up, I was always a little different from the rest of the girls in my Catholic School. I went to Catholic School from K-12th grade, and it was hard. I was always taught, it was unaccepting by "God" and I could seek help. By watching The Fosters, I realized that there is nothing stronger than love. The love throughout the show is not just shown in Stef, and Lena, but throughout the family. My favorite quote from the show is "DNA doesn't make a family, love does." I find this true in my own life, with my mom's love. My sister and I may not be blood-related to her, but who needs to be blood-related, when you have love. Through all this, I've learned from The Fosters that love is the most important thing about family. And it is okay to be LGBTQAP, there is nothing wrong with me.
