The World at Night photography
Atacama Desert in Chile has some of the clearest skies for both hobby stargazers and research astronomers. I visit the observatories every other year on imaging assignment for the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and experienced some of most amazing night in the barren Atacama. Here on Cerro Paranal, these telescopes working as a single array explore the mysterious of the southern sky at the break of dawn. The Southern Cross and Carina Nebula (in red) are in the center and the Large Magellanic Cloud (a neighbor galaxy) is on the upper right.
